Programmes

University of Strathclyde International Study Centre offers a choice of pathway programmes, depending on whether you want to study at undergraduate or postgraduate level. Each pathway programme leads to a wide range of degrees at University of Strathclyde .

Undergraduate Foundation Programme

The Undergraduate Foundation Programme is a preparation programme that leads to entry to the second year of a degree (some exceptions apply). As well as learning about your subject, you will get help with study skills and English language. After completing the Undergraduate Foundation Programme and achieving the required grades, you will progress to the second year of your chosen degree.

International Year Two

The International Year Two is equivalent to the second year of a Scottish undergraduate honours degree and it provides a route to the third year of a four-year undergraduate degree (some exceptions apply) at the University of Strathclyde.

The Pre-Masters programme will prepare you for a masters degree, with a combination of subject-specific teaching, study skills and English tuition.

Online study

If you are unable to join our on campus pathway programmes for any reason, here is your alternative option for you to stay on track for your studies. Through Study Group's online pathway programmes, you can gain the skills and knowledge required to progress towards your chosen undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University of Strathclyde, regardless of where you are in the world.  

You will develop your subject knowledge and English language skills through a combination of virtual lectures and seminars, which are accessible at your convenience, in addition to excellent learning materials. 

Upon the successful completion of your programme and attainment of the necessary grades, you will be fully prepared to transition to your selected degree with the self-assurance and capabilities essential for excelling at the University of Strathclyde and in your professional journey. 

Online programmes include:

  • International Foundation Programme: Business Management
  • One-semester Online Accelerated Pre-Masters Programme
  • Two-semester Online Pre-Masters Programme

If you would like to study at University of Strathclyde International Study Centre, you will need to meet our English language and academic entry requirements.

You can join an English language preparation course first if you need to improve your language skills before starting your pathway programme.

Our expert teachers will deliver face-to-face teaching, supported by an online hub and other online resources. At the International Study Centre, you can expect classes of no more than 25 students. You will be assigned a Personal Tutor who is there to support you every step of the way to help you to stay on track to progress to the University.

We offer a free online preparation course, Prepare for Success, to help you gain a head-start before you start your academic programme.

Fees

When considering studying in the UK, you need to consider the tuition fees and accommodation costs, as well as your living costs. You can also explore the scholarship options available.

Accommodation fees vary according to the length of stay and which residence you are living in. 

Accommodation

Should you arrange your own accommodation, it should be no more than a 60 minute commute from the Centre. However, for the best student experience and to be able to focus on your studies, we strongly recommend that you live close to the Centre.

You can book accommodation once you have accepted your offer of a place and paid the confirmation payment.

Visas

If you are studying your programme on campus in the UK, you will need a Student visa. Find more information on the visa process.

The first step is to apply, receive an offer of a place, and accept your place by paying a deposit and Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) payment. You will then receive a CAS and can start the visa application process online

You can apply for your Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies up to six months before the start date of your programme (or three months if already in the UK). You can then apply for your visa. Make sure to start your application early, so there is enough time for it to be processed before you need to travel to the UK.

Enhanced Induction

The 3-week Enhanced Induction programme is designed to help you settle into your new home in the UK before commencing your main pathway programme in January. The Enhanced Induction focuses on three key areas that will help you succeed on your academic programme: language, life and learning skills.

There are no additional tuition fees to pay. However, there will be additional costs to consider, as expected with being in the UK for a longer period including living costs and accommodation. You can request accommodation on your application form, our Central Student Support Team will contact you directly about the options available.

No, this will be available face-to-face only. You must be in the UK ready to start the Enhanced Induction on the first day of the semester.
