Programmes

University of Strathclyde International Study Centre offers a choice of pathway programmes, depending on whether you want to study at undergraduate or postgraduate level. Each pathway programme leads to a wide range of degrees at University of Strathclyde .

Undergraduate Foundation Programme

The Undergraduate Foundation Programme is a preparation programme that leads to entry to the second year of a degree (some exceptions apply). As well as learning about your subject, you will get help with study skills and English language. After completing the Undergraduate Foundation Programme and achieving the required grades, you will progress to the second year of your chosen degree.

Routes

International Year One BBA

International Year One BBA will provide the skills and knowledge needed to progress to the second year of a three year Business Administration degree at University of Strathclyde.

International Year Two Civil Engineering

The International Year Two in Civil Engineering provides an accelerated route to the third year of a four-year Civil Engineering degree for students who perform above the level needed to study our Undergraduate Foundation Programme. This programme delivers a range of relevant core modules over three terms.

Pre-Masters

The Pre-Masters programme will prepare you for a masters degree, with a combination of subject-specific teaching, study skills and English tuition.

Routes

English Language Preparation

Improve your English reading, writing and listening skills and build confidence before entering your pathway programme.

  • English Language Preparation (a one or two-term programme before you start the Undergraduate Foundation Programme)
  • English for Pre-Masters (a one or two-term programme before you start your two-term Pre-Masters Programme)
  • Preparation for Study (a five or 10 week programme before you start your 12 week Accelerated Pre-Masters Programme)
  • Option to study the Online Accelerated Pre-Masters Programme over two or three semesters, if you do not have the required IELTS level for the one semester programme

If you would like to study at University of Strathclyde International Study Centre, you will need to meet our English language and academic entry requirements.

You can join an English language preparation course first if you need to improve your language skills before starting your pathway programme.

Our expert teachers will deliver a high-quality blended learning experience making use of both face-to-face teaching and our innovative digital teaching solutions. When you study face-to-face you can expect classes of no more than 25 students, whilst our digital platform allows you to enjoy interactive classes with plenty of discussion opportunities to improve your English. Both types of learning allow for self-study time to help you to learn to study independently. You will be assigned a Personal Tutor who is there to support you every step of the way to help you to stay on track to progress to the University.

If you are starting your pathway programme with us in September or October 2023, we offer a free online preparation course, Prepare for Success, to help you gain a head-start before you start your academic programme.

Fees

When considering studying in the UK, you need to consider the tuition fees and accommodation costs, as well as your living costs. You can also explore the scholarship options available.

Accommodation fees vary according to the length of stay and which residence you are living in.

Should you arrange your own accommodation, it should be no more than a 60 minute commute from the Centre. However, for the best student experience and to be able to focus on your studies, we strongly recommend that you live close to the Centre.

You can book accommodation once you have accepted your offer of a place and paid the confirmation payment.

Visas

If you are studying your programme on campus in the UK, you will need a Student visa. Find more information on the visa process.

The first step is to apply, receive an offer of a place, and accept your place by paying a deposit and Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) payment. You will then receive a CAS and can start the visa application process online

You can apply for your Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies up to six months before the start date of your programme (or three months if already in the UK). You can then apply for your visa. Make sure to start your application early, so there is enough time for it to be processed before you need to travel to the UK.
