Through our online learning experience platform, insendi, we offer a postgraduate preparation programme specifically designed for virtual study. The Accelerated Pre-Masters Programme Plus (Digital)* offers you the opportunity to complete a whole International Study Centre programme remotely, with flexibility and ease, and get the best start possible to your postgraduate level study at the University of Strathclyde.

Course overview

On a programme that is as efficient, extensive and easily accessible as the Accelerated Pre-Masters Programme Plus (Digital), students are able to prepare for studying a Masters programme in the UK without relocating or leaving their lives behind. This provides great flexibility and stability, as you can get the most out of your education without the immediate cost of coming to study in the UK. Starting your studies in September, this programme will allow you to start your postgraduate studies with other students in the following September.

Over 22 weeks**, this programme will equip you with the English tuition, academic skills and ability in business or finance required to achieve your potential in your postgraduate degree. The first 10 weeks of the programme will allow you to improve your language skills to a point where you are ready to study a postgraduate degree in the UK and communicate your points articulately in English, while the following 12 weeks will prepare you for studying your degree subject by guiding you through specialist subject knowledge, skills and study techniques.

By design, the programme ensures that your teachers will be heavily involved in your studies, no matter where you are in the world, meaning that excellent academic and language tuition is assured.

What you will study

  • Pre-Masters Academic English Skills Plus

Designed to meet the needs of students who intend to study at postgraduate level at a UK university, but require further language development, this module focuses on rapidly developing your language skills. You will also gain the language-related academic skills that will enable you to achieve your academic potential at the University of Strathclyde.

  • Mathematics for Business

This module introduces a variety of mathematical concepts embedded within the business contexts commonly used in postgraduate programmes. As well as developing your mathematical skills, this module will focus on improving your ability to critically evaluate mathematical findings from a variety of publications, including the business and press reports.

  • Research Project Proposal (Critical Approaches)

Specifically designed for students coming from diverse educational backgrounds, this module aims to build the reading and research skills you’ll need to successfully study a Masters degree.  Additionally, this module will allow you to develop the necessary presentation, communication and group work skills to progress to the degree of your choice with confidence.

 

During the Accelerated Pre-Masters Programme Plus (Digital), you will be given the option to study one of two subject routes: Business or Finance. You may choose your route based on which degree you are interested in progressing to. The subject-specific module for each respective route are detailed below.

  • Strategic Management & Operations

For a chosen Masters degree in Business Management at the University of Strathclyde, this module will introduce key business concepts used in postgraduate study, as well as offering opportunities to apply them to a wide range of examples. Throughout the module, you will develop the necessary skills required for success in your future studies and beyond.

  • Introduction to Econometrics

This module will equip you with essential econometric skills and knowledge for your chosen Masters degree in Finance at the University of Strathclyde. Providing fundamental knowledge of basic econometrics using the linear regression model, this module covers theoretical approaches and practical applications using cross-sectional and time series data.

Degree progression

Once you have completed the Accelerated Pre-Masters Programme Plus (Digital), and achieved the required progression criteria^, you will have the ability to progress to one of the below postgraduate degrees at the University of Strathclyde.

^Students are to submit their final year transcripts and degree/graduation certificate before 31st July to the International Study Centre to ensure it is considered by the Programme Assessment Board, as a part of their guaranteed conditional progression offer.

Please note

Students will need achieve 65% for the Econometrics module as well as Mathematics for Business, and 60% overall for progression to the University. Pre-approval required before you can receive an offer.
