The Guardian University Guide 2021 has ranked University of Strathclyde 15th in the UK, rising 36 places since last year. These rankings are assessed against strict criteria, including teaching satisfaction, spend per student and whether students have begun their careers within 15 months of graduating.
Strathclyde excelled in course satisfaction, scoring 86.3% and received scores of 86% for both satisfaction with teaching and career prospects after 15 months.
As well as the updated national rankings, Strathclyde also placed well in subject rankings. 14 of the subjects that International Study Centre students can progress to ranked in the UK top 20, including:
- 1st - Journalism, publishing and public relations
- =1st - Social Policy & administration
- 4th - Economics
- 4th - Accounting and finance
- 6th - Mechanical engineering
- 7th - Architecture
- 8th - Social work
- 10th - Business, management and marketing
- = 10th - Electronic and electrical engineering
The rise from 51 in last year’s ranking to 15 comes after Strathclyde was named UK University of the Year in the Times Higher Education Awards 2019, Scottish University of the Year 2020 in the Sunday Times, and awarded a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education in 2019.
